Client Testimonials
In 1998 Roche Group began construction on one of the states major tourist facilities – namely The Hunter Valley Gardens, together with a 72 room prestige lodge, 48 room motel, shopping centre, convention centre and Irish pub. This involved large and detailed earthworks of several million dollars in value in the creation of the gardens alone together with over 4 km of road and drainage works and carparking for over 800 vehicles. WHE won the first stage by fair tender and we were so impressed at their professionalism and diligence and their constant input in cost saving recommendations whilst still maintaining the highest standards, that we continued with the project without further tenders. They never disappointed us in either their co-operation, quality of work, or their ability to perform to strict time schedules.
We would most certainly engage them again on any future projects.Bob Walsh

About Woodbury’s Haulage and Earthmoving
Woodbury’s Haulage and Earthmoving (WHE) began in 1955 when Keith Woodbury purchased a truck and began hauling logs from Mt Royal and Taree back to the underground coal mines and sawmills in the Hunter Valley. Two more trucks were purchased in 1960 and Keith began to specialize in hauling coal throughout the Hunter Valley. By 1980 the business was beginning to expand and WHE began carting gravel out of Ray Adam’s Quarry at Black Hill. It was at this time that Keith’s son Mark began working for Keith as a truck driver/mechanic.
In the early 1980’s the earthmoving division of the company began to grow as small projects in and around the vineyard area (Pokolbin) were undertaken and completed.
After working for his father for over 10 years, Mark – along with his wife Karen – purchased the business in 1991. He continued to expand both the earthmoving and the haulage aspects of the business.
In 1995 WHE purchased Black Hill Quarry and supplied material to Maitland and Cessnock Councils. By this time the Civil Construction division of the business had started to grow from small projects to larger scale roadworks and subdivision for builders, developers and councils. The experience gained from these projects and relationships has allowed WHE to develop into a professional contracting company delivering projects on time, on budget and at a high level of quality.
